About Us

Welcome to the Homepage of the South Bay Deutscher Schulverein (SBDS), a German Saturday School.

We are a non-profit organization that has been promoting the study of German as a Second Language and serving the Silicon Valley area for well over 40 years.

Our school was founded in 1964 and has since provided young and adult learners in the San Francisco South Bay with an opportunity to study German following a culturally rich and learner centered curriculum.

Classes are taught by an experienced faculty from Germany, Switzerland, and the United States. SBDS is part of the German American School Association of Northern California (GASANC).

Please take a few minutes to browse our website and feel free to contact us with any questions about our school and programs.

SBDS Weihnachtsfeier
The holiday season is approaching fast. This means that our traditional Christmas celebration (Weihnachtsfeier) will soon be taking place. This year the Weihnachtsfeier is on Sunday, December 14th, 2 - 4pm at the Willow Glen Middle School Cafeteria.
Click here for the Christmas Party Flyer and please don't forget to RSVP and let us know if you and your family are going to attend or not. This will help the organizing team with the planning and to ensure there is enough food and drinks for everybody.

AP & DSD-B1 Prep Classes!
SBDS is offering German AP and DSD-B1 preparation classes which started November 15, 2008. There are only a couple spaces available in the classroom. Enrollment is still open until the end of November '08.

The AP class prepares specifically for the German Advanced Placement exam provided by the College Board in May 2009.

The DSD-B1 exam goes beyond the AP exam as it is a step towards the "Deutsches Sprachdiplom", which prepares students to pursue university studies at a German university.  Click here for more details.
